tv: A Problem of Flexibility

Season 3 : Ep. 9 | 3:13

I need your help. I'm stuck! I need a way to receive information from the DogBot foot without restricting it's movement. Any ideas? Please leave a comment if you have any ideas!

Here are the background videos leading up to this one:

  1. You could move the force sensitive resistor to the leg above the moving foot. This would allow the force on the leg/foot to be measured but not have those wires going to it. Depending on the accuracy you need on the distance sensor you could do the same thing.

  2. You could use motor winding wires that would be much less rigid than the wires you're using now.

  3. Hi,
I'm quite new to robotics but here's a try:
    1. Could you attach a flexible hoof onto the foot so that you achieve flexibility under the foot rather than with the foot itself?
    2. Rather than using wires could you use magnetometers/IR distance sensors for sensing the foot position? E.g. attach the IR sensor on the leg and point it to the foot so that the distance changes as the foot tilts.
Great set of videos - be encouraged.
